Friday, April 22, 2016 - Saturday, June 25, 2016
Piazza Riforma 2 6900 Lugano Switzerland
The new exhibition is dedicated to an exquisite corpus of works unpublished by the famous painter from Ticino Giuseppe Antonio Petrini (Carona 1677 - 1755/1759), thanks to which a new and interesting chapter has been opened concerning the artist's activity on the other side of the Alps in the Canton Vaud. This rare ensemble of seven works features the only two known oil sketches on paper by the painter, accompanied by four canvases by Petrini and another sketch, probably executed by the same unknown artist who frescoed the Salone d'onore (State Hall) in the Castle d'Hauteville, where the works were found.
The exhibition is accompanied by a scientific catalogue with contributions from Manuela Kahn-Rossi, Alessandro Morandotti and Chiara Naldi.
The exhibitions has been supported by PKB Privatbank SA.
